massive failure in content delivery network services

A massive outage affecting Cloudflare’s content delivery network (CDN) services caused disruptions to multiple digital platforms, including the social network X and the chatbot ChatGPT, for several hours on November 18, 2025. The problem, detected shortly before 12:00 PM in Spain, was due to an unusual traffic spike on one of its servers, the cause of which is still unknown. The company confirmed the restoration of services around 3:42 PM, after implementing a fix.

This incident adds to other recent failures in key infrastructure: in October 2025, an issue at Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in Northern Virginia caused the outage of services such as Fortnite, Roblox, Snapchat, and Duolingo. Similarly, in February 2025, a Fastly outage affected hundreds of digital services, including Spotify, Twitch, The New York Times, and the BBC, although it was resolved in less than an hour.

In the server technology sector, NVIDIA began shipping its Blackwell Ultra servers. The GB300 is expected in September 2025 after overcoming production issues. These servers, part of the Blackwell Ultra range, are designed to power artificial intelligence use cases. Additionally, companies like MSI and ASUS presented new server solutions at the SC24 event, including models with AMD EPYC 9005 Series and 6th generation Intel Xeon processors, as well as AI accelerators. Dell also announced the addition of four new PowerEdge servers to its AI Factory in Mexico, powered by AMD technology.
