Alias (Email Alias)

An email alias is an email redirection through the creation of an additional account that does not necessarily need to exist. Its purpose is to ensure that all emails sent to different aliases (whether they exist or not) reach the same real mailbox.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Amazon Web Services, or AWS, is Amazon’s cloud platform. An infrastructure that adapts to your company’s needs in terms of resources and platform location. To make contracting an AWS service easier, Linube offers server administration services on Amazon.

Anti-spam

A filtering system that prevents the reception of unwanted emails. This feature is included in all our services, analyzing incoming emails and marking suspicious ones as [SPAM], making them easier to delete.

Antivirus

A software program designed to detect and remove any virus that attempts to enter the server or mailbox, in order to avoid any damage to clients’ websites, online stores, or emails.

Auth-Code

Also known as EPP code or Auth-Info, the Auth-Code is an authorization code required for the transfer of a generic domain. It is an alphanumeric key that ensures that the person requesting and authorizing the domain transfer is the actual domain holder.

B

Backup

Also known as a backup copy or data backup, it is a copy of all the information of a website so that, in case of data loss or accidental deletion, the information can be recovered through a restoration process.

C

Cloud Backup

A cloud service in which all a company’s backups or large volumes of data are stored. This solution guarantees business continuity since an additional offsite copy of all the information is always available. Cloud Backup also allows implementing strategies such as the 3-2-1 backup rule.

Cluster (Server Cluster)

A server cluster is a group of cloud servers that behave as if they were a single machine. This service is especially recommended for large projects or critical services that require maximum availability. Thanks to redundancy, the project will always remain online even if one server goes down.

Control Panel

The application that allows clients to access and manage their hosting or cloud server. At Hatel Tech, we recommend using a Plesk Control Panel license, one of the most widely used worldwide.

D

Data Center

The facility where servers are located. To ensure their proper functioning, data centers are climate-controlled, servers are monitored, and strong security measures are in place.

Dedicated Server

A dedicated server is an entire physical machine that can be customized according to each client’s needs. Since it is a physical machine, its availability depends on potential hardware and software failures, and its scalability is limited by the machine’s capacity.

DDoS Attack

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is one of the most common forms of cyberattack. It consists of making a large number of requests to a server with the goal of disabling the service or infrastructure. Linube’s cloud platform is equipped with anti-DDoS to prevent or mitigate the effects of such attacks.

Disk Space

The amount of space, expressed in megabytes (MB), contracted in a hosting plan or cloud server. All files (images, HTML, databases, logs, emails…) related to a website are stored here.

DNS (Domain Name System)

The system that translates the numbers of an IP address into words. This makes websites easier to remember since it is not necessary to memorize the numeric sequence that browsers and servers read.

Domain

A domain is the name by which a website is identified on the internet, such as linube.com. It is the readable and unique equivalent of an IP address.

DRS (Disaster Recovery Server)

A disaster recovery solution that helps guarantee business continuity. It allows replicating not only the information stored on a machine but also its configuration in another data center. If the main data center fails, a secondary one is ready to replicate and continue service.

E

Email Client

A software program installed on a computer that allows sending and receiving emails by connecting to the mail server. Outlook is one of the most popular clients.

Email Forwarding

A feature that forwards emails arriving at multiple accounts to a single address chosen by the user. This eliminates the need to check multiple inboxes.

F

Firewall (Perimeter Firewall)

A software system that blocks access to a server from malicious elements and unauthorized users. All traffic entering or leaving the server must pass through it, and traffic that doesn’t meet security requirements is blocked.

FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name)

A fully qualified domain name specifies the exact location of a service. Its structure indicates the host, domain name, and extension. Example: cloudbackup.hateltech.com

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

A protocol based on a client-server architecture used to transfer files. It allows modifications to your website or server via an FTP client.

G

Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Google’s cloud service that allows you to host your website or project on the same infrastructure Google uses for its own services. Linube offers GCP administration services for professional technical management.

H

Hosting (Web Hosting)

The service that provides a user with the necessary system to be present on the internet. Hosting allows storing websites, mailboxes, or any content accessible online.

.htaccess

A configuration file used in Apache web servers. With .htaccess, you can modify directives and server settings.

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)

The most widely used communication protocol on the internet. It establishes communication between browsers and web servers and also allows linking between web pages.

HTTPS

The secure version of HTTP, using SSL/TLS encryption to create an encrypted channel that ensures secure communication over the internet.

I

IMAP

An email protocol that allows access to an account from any internet-connected device. Unlike POP, IMAP keeps emails stored on the server, so they remain accessible from different devices.

IP Address

A unique number assigned to a device to identify it on a network. It consists of four numerical groups separated by dots, ranging from 1 to 255.

L

Linux

One of the operating systems used for Linube servers and hosting platforms. It is open-source software and often used with PHP for web development.

N

Nextcloud

A cloud storage application that also enables online content creation and editing. Similar to Dropbox, it’s ideal for collaboration, even with sensitive data, thanks to encryption and VPN-only access.

P

PHP

A server-side programming language commonly used in web development for its simplicity and compatibility with multiple systems.

POP (Post Office Protocol)

An email protocol that downloads emails to the device used to access them and then deletes them from the server, making them unavailable on other devices.

Responsive (Responsive Design)

A web design approach that adapts pages to the characteristics of each device. It improves user experience by ensuring proper visualization on desktops, tablets, and mobiles.

S

Server Administration

A service that includes all the necessary tasks to keep a server or platform updated and secure. Linube also provides proactive monitoring and backups to minimize risks. It is also available for remote servers.

Server Cloud (Cloud Server)

A virtualized server used to host websites, online stores, or applications. Its scalability and availability ensure that websites remain operational and adapt to traffic demands.

SLA (Service Level Agreement)

A contract between a service provider and a client that defines service quality in terms of availability. It guarantees that the service availability matches what was agreed.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)

A protocol for sending emails, connecting mail clients with servers. For receiving emails, it works together with POP or IMAP.

SSH (Secure Shell)

A protocol and program that allow remote server access through an encrypted connection. It also enables secure file transfers (SSH tunneling) and RSA key management.

Subdomain

A second-level domain that appears before the main domain. It is commonly used to access a specific page within a website.

T

Traffic (Web Transfer)

The amount of data a website sends and receives when visited by users. The more visitors and page views, the greater the traffic.

U

Uptime (Availability)

The time a service is available online. Linube guarantees 99% uptime. If availability is lower, clients are compensated with discounts.

V

VPN (Virtual Private Network)

A secure connection between devices that combines the advantages of a local network with those of the internet. Commonly used for remote work to securely access corporate systems.

VPS (Virtual Private Server)

A virtual server within a physical machine, created through virtualization. Each VPS is independent but depends on the physical server, which may limit availability.

W

Webmail

A web-based interface for accessing an email inbox without a mail client. With webmail, you can send, receive, and delete emails from anywhere with internet access.

Whois

A TCP-based protocol that acts as a database of domain owner information. Although most information is now hidden due to GDPR, it was used to check domain availability and ownership details.

WPO (Web Performance Optimization)

A set of techniques that improve website loading speed, such as image compression and code optimization, resulting in better user experience.
